Learning Team Goals

  1. To be the most intriguing product ever presented in a Bus477 class.
  2. Develop team skills through the progress of our project
  3. We want to learn the essential skills in presenting a perfect presentation.
  4. Every Team Member will complete his required work within our internally assigned deadlines.
  5. Every Team Member will attend all the meetings, with full attendance with no excuses.
  6. Create the actual product which we can actually succeed in the real market.

Potential Barriers

  1. Communication barriers – Business and Engineering students have very busy schedules and heavy work loads which may lead to problems when arranging an appropriate time for meeting. Emails and phone calls will be used when meeting in person is not possible; however this sort of communication would not be as efficient and clear in comparison to meeting face-to-face.
  2. Scheduling – Because there are 8 people on our team, it would be difficult to agree on one single time for everyone to meet up. There is also a commuting problem when the members of our team live in very different geographic areas. We hope to meet for 1 hour before/after every class to keep a close update on progress from both sides of the team.
  3. Patent – Although we have registered a patent for our product, we are in the risk of exposing our products technology to our manufactures. This is because we need to work closely with our manufactures of LCD in developing this product. Potential competitors can approach these manufactures and develop similar products.

Ground Rules

  1. Our team meets up on a weekly basis before and after class for 1 hour at Tim Hortons at the WMC.
  2. Internal deadlines that have been set by the team will be posted in our weekly basis through a group email at the end of the meeting which is held after class.
  3. Attendance is mandatory, if someone in the team is unable to attend the meeting a 24 hour prior notice is needed so that the team can reassign the work distribution.
  4. There will be an agenda for each meeting and each member is expected to participate in discussing open topics. It is crucial for team members to share their ideas to the team.
  5. Respect will be a key issue through our meetings, we want to respect the one that is talking by paying attention and listening to every detail that each member has to share. There will be an assigned mediator for each meeting to facilitate the meeting.

Conflict Management

  1. Sonny Wan will be our group mediator and is responsible for handling any conflicts within the project team and facilitate any respect issues.
  2. Group member have to make sure to abide by the ground rules. Those who fail to do so should give reasons why. Meanwhile, the mediator should keep in touch with each group member to ensure steady progress.
  3. Mediator will prevent social loafing, by distributing the work evenly among group members. Members are also allowed to suggest opinions with regards to fairness in the group.
