Hi everyone,

I will not be able to make it to the next class but I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the New Venture Gala last Thursday.

My first impression of the finalists were that they were not young! While I originally thought they were are going to be around university-age new grads, they were more like seasoned professionals with decades of industry experience.

My second impression is that whereas in our class, we are somewhat encourage to create simple ideas (ex. faucet heat checker, snowboard straps, etc.), the ideas of the New Venture entrepreneurs were fairly complex, current, and "revolutionary". Complex like Rapid Electric Vehicles' REV PACK, an electric drive system. Current like all the technologies that focused on sustainability. "Revolutionary" in that the purpose of the products were not to solve simple issues (ex. checking the heat of your faucet water) but world-changing issues (ex. converting the sun's heat to emission-free electricity). 

Overall it was a great experience, New Venture seems like a tremendous help to the entrepreneurs, and the Samosa sauce they served was amazing delicious. :)
