Past Guest Speaker - Albert Leung, SFUDr. Leung will speak on the topic of turning research into business ventures. Albert M. Leung joined the School of Engineering Science, Simon Fraser University (SFU) in 1984 and is now Professor. Dr. Leung’s research interests are physical sensors and microfabrication process developments. He was the founding Director of the Institute of Micromachine and Microfabrication Research at SFU in 1993, and the Director of the School of Engineering Science from 1994-1997. From 1991 to 1994 Dr. Leung was on leave from SFU and found Intertech Systems Inc. to commercialize SFU’s laser direct write technology. From 2001-2003 Dr. Leung was VP Technology of MEMSIC, a startup company in Boston, to facilitate the transfer of SFU’s accelerometer technology. MEMSIC is now a listed in NASDAQ. In 2001 Dr. Leung was the recipient of the Manning Foundation Innovation Principal Award and the Science Council of British Columbia Industrial Innovation Award.
