New Ventures BC Competition Registration now open

** Note to everyone who has taken BUS477 in the past as well as those who plan to take it in the future...

New Ventures BC is a venture business competition aimed at supporting the technology industry. Those who have taken BUS477 will have heard me recommend they participate in this competition in particular because:

  • it's a "real world" competition (as opposed to a competition aimed at students)
  • the seminar series that leads up to the actual competition is an exceptional way to learn about key topics in entrepreneurship and network with business leaders and fellow entrepreneurs. (Think BUS477 without the textbook)
  • for the top 30-odd finalists, this competition matches teams with successful businesspeople who volunteer their time to help you succeed

All British Columbia entrepreneurs are encouraged to enter. For $100 per team, it's the best deal going for entrepreneurs.

If you have taken BUS477 and are willing to invest a bit more love in your project, you will almost certainly make the first cut and be assigned a mentor. If you've not taken BUS477, even participating in this competition will give you a significant advantage in the class.

Details from NVBC follow. Good luck!
